Medicaid changes will better serve residents with disabilities, the elderly
HONOLULU — The Hawaii Department of Health announced in a news release its Developmental Disabilities Division has been working to meet the required nationwide compliance for Medicaid’s “Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services.” The broad changes to the program will enable Hawaii residents with disabilities and older adults to live and fully take part in their communities.
The DOH Developmental Disabilities Division operates Hawaii’s Medicaid waiver for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. About 3,500 participants in the state benefit from these services. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the changes will impact more than one million people nationwide.
