moderate flooding rain 
- The flooding rain threat has remained nearly steady from 
the previous assessment. 
- PLAN: Emergency plans should include the potential for 
moderate flooding from heavy rain. Evacuations and rescues 
are possible. 
- PREPARE: Consider protective actions if you are in an area 
vulnerable to flooding. 
- ACT: Heed any flood watches and warnings. Failure to take 
action may result in serious injury or loss of life. 
- POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Significant 
- Moderate rainfall flooding may prompt several evacuations 
and rescues. 
- Rivers and tributaries may quickly become swollen with 
swifter currents and overspill their banks in a few places, 
especially in usually vulnerable spots. Small streams, 
creeks, canals, arroyos, and ditches overflow. 
- Flood waters can enter some structures or weaken 
foundations. Several places may experience expanded areas 
of rapid inundation at underpasses, low-lying spots, and 
poor drainage areas. Some streets and parking lots take on 
moving water as storm drains and retention ponds overflow.

- Situation is somewhat favorable for tornadoes 
- THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY THAT INCLUDES TYPICAL FORECAST 
UNCERTAINTY IN TRACK, SIZE AND INTENSITY: Potential for a few 
tornadoes 
- The tornado threat has remained nearly steady from the 
previous assessment. 
- PLAN: Emergency plans should continue to include possible 
tornadoes. 
- PREPARE: Stay within your shelter keeping informed of the 
latest tornado situation. 
- ACT: Move quickly to the safest place within your shelter 
if a tornado warning is issued. 
- POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Limited 
- The occurrence of isolated tornadoes can hinder the 
execution of emergency plans during tropical events. 
- A few places may experience tornado damage, along with 
power and communications disruptions. 
- Locations could realize roofs peeled off buildings, 
chimneys toppled, mobile homes pushed off foundations or 
overturned, large tree tops and branches snapped off, 
shallow-rooted trees knocked over, moving vehicles blown 
off roads, and small boats pulled from moorings.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR EAST FACING SHORES OF OAHU AND KAUAI 
THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON... 

.Swell from Tropical Storm Calvin will continue to build for east 
facing shores of Kauai and Oahu today but will be on the decline 
for exposed east facing shores of Maui County and the Big Island. 

...HIGH SURF WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS 
EVENING... 

* WHAT...Dangerously large and disorganized waves of 14 to 18 
feet. 

* WHERE...Exposed east facing shores of Big Island, Maui, 
Molokai, and Kahoolawe. 

* WHEN...Until 6 PM HST today. 

* IMPACTS...High. Expect very strong breaking waves and powerful 
currents. Waves breaking in channel entrances may make 
navigating the channels dangerous.
Instructions: Stay away from the shoreline along the affected coasts. Be prepared for road closures. Postpone entering or leaving channels affected by the high surf until the surf subsides.

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS EVENING FOR OAHU 
AND KAUAI... 

.Strong and gusty winds will spread westward across the state 
as Tropical Storm Calvin passes south of the smaller islands 
today. The strongest winds will likely occur in areas over and 
downwind of island mountains. 

...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS 
EVENING... 

* WHAT...East winds 35 to 45 mph with localized gusts around 60 
mph. 

* WHERE...Portions of Kahoolawe, Lanai, Maui and Molokai. 

* WHEN...Until 6 PM HST this evening. 

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines 
and damage roofs. Power outages are possible. Travel will be 
difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Instructions: Strong winds may lead to property damage. Hazardous driving conditions due to powerful cross winds will pose a serious risk for drivers, especially for light weight and high profile vehicles. Loose outdoor items should be brought inside or secured properly.
