…FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR BIG ISLAND FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT… * WHAT…Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE…The Big Island. * WHEN…From this evening through late Monday night. * IMPACTS…Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS… – A low level trough moving into the Big Island from the east will be enhanced by a deepening upper level system producing moderate to heavy rainfall mainly over the eastern slopes of the Big Island starting this evening. The heaviest rainfall amounts are forecast to fall along the eastern slopes of the Big Island from North Kohala, down the Hamakua Coast, into the Hilo and Puna Districts.
