Alert: Coastal Flood Statement issued September 14 at 3:27AM HST until September 16 at 6:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI
…MINOR COASTAL FLOODING DURING HIGH TIDE THROUGH MONDAY…
.Peak monthly high tides combined with water levels that are
running higher than predicted will lead to minor flooding along
the shoreline and in low-lying coastal areas. Coastal flooding is
possible around the daily peak tide, which will be between the
late morning and early afternoon hours.
* WHAT…Isolated minor coastal flooding.
* WHERE…Vulnerable low-lying coastal roadways, docks, boat ramps
and other coastal infrastructure.
* WHEN…Late morning through early afternoon hours that are
centered around the daily peak tides through Monday.
* IMPACTS…Flooding of beaches that are normally dry, minor
coastal erosion, and saltwater inundation of low-lying roads,
docks, boat ramps and other coastal infrastructure.
Instructions:
Avoid driving through flooded roadways. If you are forced to
drive through salt water, be sure to rinse your vehicle with
fresh water. Owners of properties in low lying shoreline areas or
near waterways should consider moving any electronics, vehicles
or other valuables to higher ground. Monitor vessels to ensure
mooring lines don’t get too tight and watch out for overwash
around boat ramps. Secure canoes or other watercraft stowed on
beaches.
