The National Weather Service has extended the High Surf Warning for West Facing Shores of the Ka`u, North Kohala, North Kona, South Kohala, South Kona District(s) of Hawaii Island through Saturday morning.
A High Surf Warning means large breaking surf, significant shore break, and dangerous currents exist that could cause significant injury or death.
Due to the High Surf Warning, please be advised:
- Heed instructions of Ocean Safety Personnel.
- Those along the West Facing Shores should take necessary precautions.
- The following beaches are closed:
Kahalu`u Beach Park, Magic Sands/La`aola Beach Park, Mahukona Beach Park.
- Be aware that additional beach parks may close without warning.
