Hāmākua Sugar Days Festival Parade & Fair — October 4 in Honokaʻa

Parade, fair, live music, cultural exhibits, and community celebration

HONOKAʻA, Hawaiʻi,  — The Honokaʻa Heritage Center is proud to announce the Hāmākua Sugar Days Festival on Saturday, October 4, a full day of community celebration honoring Hāmākua’s rich heritage.

The day begins with a Parade at 10:00 a.m. through historic Honokaʻa town, followed by the Festival Fair at Honokaʻa Park, running until 7:00 p.m.

This year’s Festival Fair will highlight cultural booths and exhibits where families can learn about Hāmākua’s diverse heritage, explore local history, and connect with the stories of the people who built the community. Visitors can enjoy hands-on demonstrations, storytelling, and educational displays that bring the past to life while celebrating the heritage that makes Hāmākua unique.

At the heart of the celebration is the Main Stage, alive with music and performances all day long. From the moment the parade ends until the evening hours, the stage will showcase a dynamic lineup of local entertainers, dancers, and musicians — keeping the energy high and the celebration vibrant.

Festival fun continues with a POG activity, Historic Honokaʻa Town scavenger hunt, Mutt Contest, bounce houses, keiki games, educational booths, a wide variety of vendors and food booths, and a lively Beer Garden for adult attendees. Free shuttles will run throughout town, making it easy for attendees to enjoy every part of the event.

“Sugar Days is a festival for everyone,” said Nicole Garcia, Director of the Honokaʻa Heritage Center. “The stage will be alive with music, and our cultural booths and exhibits will give people the chance to learn, connect, and celebrate the rich heritage that shapes Hāmākua.”
