The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for North and South Kona. The Flash Flood Warning for Puna and Kau continues.
A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
Due to the Flash Flood Warning, be advised:
- Flooding is life-threatening.
- The Waiaha Stream in Kona has risen to near 2 1/2 feet, residents in the area and downstream need to prepare for flooding.
- All residents in flood-prone areas are asked to remain on the alert for possible flooding conditions. Move to high ground as necessary.
- Please drive with caution. Be on the alert for run-off, ponding of water, debris, and poor visibility.
- Do not attempt to cross flowing water in a vehicle or on foot; turn around, don’t drown
- The following roads are closed:
- Highway 11 miles 50 to 51 Pahala
- Highway 11 miles 56 to 62 Kawa
- Highway 11 miles 65 to 66 in Waiohinu
