  • Flood advisory for…
    The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

  • Until 1115 PM HST.

  • At 811 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain along the northeastern
    slopes of the Big Island. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2
    inches per hour. Expect elevated water levels in rivers and
    streams within the advisory area.

  • Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to…
    Hilo, Paauilo, Waipio Valley, Orchidlands Estates, Kukuihaele,
    Hawi, Pepeekeo, Keaau, Kamuela, Honokaa, Ookala and Hawaiian
    Paradise Park.
    This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1115 PM HST if heavy
    rain persists.HE FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM HST FOR THE
    ISLAND OF HAWAII IN HAWAII COUNTY…
    At 452 PM HST…radar indicated heavy rain and thunderstorms
    continuing near Waipio Valley, and across Kohala Mountain Road.
    Rainfall rates up to 3 inches per hour have been observed, and
    Kawainui Stream has reached 6 feet.

  • At 340 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain and thunderstorms near
    Waipio Valley. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per
    hour.

  • Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to…
    Pololu Valley, Waipio Valley, Kukuihaele, Kohala Ranch, Halaula,
    Kamuela, Waimanu Valley, Puako, Kapaau, Kawaihae, Hawi and Waikoloa
    Village.
    This advisory may need to be extended beyond 645 PM HST if heavy rain
    persists.
    Instructions: Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don`t drown.
