Hawaii Ranks Top 10 in Best Places for Women to Live in the Nation

HONOLULU (KHON2) – Hawaii ranks 7th on the list in the best places for women to live in, according to Move.org.

Their ranking is based off of seven factors: the population of a state’s major cities, the average rent of a one-bedroom apartment in cities, total number of post-secondary schools, violent crimes, birth control coverage without copay or deductible, the percentage of uninsured women between the ages 18-64 and the wage gap between genders.

Move.org says that the Aloha State has the highest life expectancy for women. Only five percent of the women in Hawaii are uninsured, but do not get birth control coverage without copay.

Here are the other ranking factors:

Gender wage gap: $0.81
Population of major cities: 359,870
Average rent: $1,746.67
Post-secondary schools: 29
Crime in major cities:
Rape: 285
Violent crimes: 2,440
Aggravated assault: 1,215
Murder and non-negligent manslaughter: 32
In the state, Honolulu is listed as the best city to live in.

Outranking Hawaii is Minnesota, Vermont, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Washington D.C. coming in first.
