DLNR News Conference
The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) and the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority (HTA) are announcing two collaborative projects. The Mālama Hawai‘i campaign centers around seven :30-second-long public service announcements that are now playing on incoming Hawaiian Airlines flights and in 27,000 hotel rooms around the state. Discussions are underway with other air carriers to add the messages to their in-flight digital offerings. The messages of the PSA’s mirror what visitors and locals have been seeing on 30 large outdoor conservation messaging signs erected around O‘ahu two years ago. HTA is also providing support for various projects and initiatives to combat the spread of Rapid ‘Ōhi‘a Death. Most recently this includes funding statewide aerial surveys.
