Heavily involved residential structure fire. All residents of the structure had safely exited the home with no injuries reported.
The fire was difficult to extinguish due to dense vegitation preventing access and split level construction. Firefighters from the Honokaa Fire Station arrived on scene within 5 minutes of the initial 911 call, but the house was already heavily involved with fire. Their quick actions and hard work saved the detached carport and vehicle located inside as well as prevented the spread of fire to a nearby residence.
