This is a High Surf Advisory message for Saturday, January 9.
The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory for Hawaii Island with a building swell tonight through Monday. The affected areas include north and east facing shores of North Kohala, Hamakua, Hilo and Puna.
A High Surf Advisory means strong breaking waves, significant shore-break, and dangerous currents make entering the water very hazardous, exercise caution.
Due to the High Surf Advisory the follow are issued:
- Secure all vessels and property before night fall and any impacts occur.
- Ocean users should heed all advice given by Ocean Safety Officials.
