Ninole Loop Road, Punalu’u Brush Fire Official Report

11 HFD apparatus; 17 HFD personnel

Working brushfire burning southwest of Ninole Loop Road and below Highway 11. Fire originated near road and spread in southwest direction.

Cause is unknown

HFD units from Pahala, Na’alehu, Volcano, Central and Waiakea responded to brushfire off of Ninole Loop Road, Punalu’u. Coresponse from volunteer companies from Discovery Harbour and Na’alehu as well. Fire contained and extinguished with units utilizing extended hoselines to reach inaccessible areas and with Chopper bucket operations. Fire contained to approximately 5 acres.

Rocky terrain with scattered brush and shrubs. Hot and dry conditions.
