THE ISLAND OF HAWAII IN HAWAII COUNTY…
* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE…The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County.
* WHEN…Until 915 AM HST.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in
streams.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 542 AM HST, radar indicated moderate to heavy showers over
the Hamakua, Hilo and Puna Districts, with rainfall rates
near 1 inch per hour from Waipio Valley to Hilo to Volcano.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Hilo, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Honokaa, Papaikou, Mountain
View, Pepeekeo, Honomu, Glenwood, Keaau, Hakalau, Volcano,
Ninole, Hawaiian Acres, Orchidlands Estates, Laupahoehoe,
Ookala, Pahoa, Paauilo and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
This advisory may need to be extended beyond 915 AM HST if flooding
persists.

…FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON…
* WHAT…Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE…The Big Island.
* WHEN…Through this afternoon.
* IMPACTS…Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be
closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas
may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to
rapid runoff.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– A passing upper-level disturbance will produce heavy showers
and thunderstorms that could lead to flash flooding today.
The highest flood risk will be across windward slopes, though
heavy rainfall and thunderstorms could occur anywhere.
Instructions: You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

…HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR EAST FACING SHORES…
.An elevated north-northeast swell will result in advisory level
surf along east facing shores through today, with a possible
extension into Thursday. Strong trade winds will also contribute
to this swell, and produce very rough and choppy conditions.
…HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS
EVENING…
* WHAT…Surf of 8 to 12 feet.
* WHERE…East facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui, and
Big Island.
* WHEN…Until 6 PM HST this afternoon.
* IMPACTS…Moderate. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break,
and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming
difficult and dangerous.
Instructions: Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.

* WHAT…Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, with a
chance of freezing rain.
* WHERE…Big Island Summits.
* WHEN…Until 6 PM HST this evening.
* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult and driving conditions
will be hazardous.
Instructions: A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
