Honolulu Zoo welcomes baby sloth
HONOLULU — The Honolulu Zoo announced the birth of a sixth baby sloth on Monday. Mom Harriet (age 9) and father Quando (age 19!) have been busy. Harriet gave birth to baby number six in the early morning hours of May 5, 2022, at the Honolulu Zoo. Baby sloth is a Linnaeus two-toed sloth, also known as a southern two-toed sloth. Offspring generally stay with their mom for 9 to 12 months.
It will take several months before zoo keepers will know whether the baby is a male or female, and will remain unnamed until then.
