PĀPAʻALOA PARK PUBLIC WATER FILLING STATION TEMPORARILY CLOSED

Hawai‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation announces the temporary closure of the public water filling station located at the entry to Pāpa’aloa Park. The water spigots will be closed effective Monday, October 10, for approximately four weeks.

The closure of this public water filling station is necessary for the reconstruction of the parking stalls and accessible walkways fronting the water spigots as part of the ADA-compliance improvements at the park. The water spigots will be reopened as soon as construction progress allows for safe use of the area.

People that rely on this water source are advised to plan accordingly and are encouraged to reference the Department of Water Supply’s website for alternative water filling stations on the island. The direct website address is as follows:

The Department of Parks and Recreation anticipates another temporary closure in December 2022 to allow for the paving of the driveway and the application of parking stall striping and pavement markings. The future closure will likely span 2-3 weeks. A public notice will be issued at a later date when that work is scheduled.

Parks and Recreation thanks the public for their understanding during this brief closure as we work to ensure equal access to our public facilities and enhance this valued community resource.
