Maui ‘talk story’ sessions announced for Holomua Initiative
HONOLULU — The Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Aquatic Resources has scheduled three in-person events to kick off the Holomua Marine 30×30 community planning process. The agency invites everyone interested in marine resources — fishers, divers, surfers, cultural practitioners, kupuna, and other interested residents — to take part.
The DAR launched the Holomua Marine 30×30 to incorporate community input and work together to manage marine resources. The end goal is to establish at least 30% of each island’s near-shore waters as marine management areas by 2030 to create healthy ecosystems and abundant resources.
