DOE gets $5M for programs for military dependent students

The U.S. Department of Defense Education Activity partnership has awarded the state Department of Education three grants totaling $5 million to enhance skill-building and learning opportunities for military-dependent students at select Hawaii schools over the next five years.

    • DoDEA helps to fund DOE programs that expand opportunities at local public schools with significant populations of military-dependent children.
    • The Radford Complex received $2 to enhance college, career and community readiness
    • The Kalaheo Complex received $2 million to expand and enhance its existing world language program through increased elementary and secondary school staffing and enhanced training in project-based learning
  • The Campbell-Kapolei Complex received $1 million to enhance career skills training at Kapolei High School, Honouliuli Middle School, Ewa Makai Middle School and Hookele Elementary School through partnerships with business and industry partners that will provide career-mentoring opportunities and STEM pathways
