* WHAT…Trade winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
* WHERE…Portions of Kahoolawe, Lanai, Maui, Molokai and the
Big Island Hawaii.
* WHEN…Until 6 PM HST this evening.
* IMPACTS…Winds this strong can tear off shingles, knock down
tree branches, blow away tents and awnings and make it
difficult to steer, especially for drivers of high profile
vehicles.
Instructions: Watch out for falling tree branches when walking or driving. Make sure tents and awnings are secure or take them down. Be prepared for power outages.

LEEWARD AREAS…
.Strong winds and low humidity will produce critical fire conditions
today over leeward areas. Humidity levels will increase and wind
speeds will decrease on Tuesday.
…RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM HST THIS MORNING TO 6 PM
HST THIS EVENING FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY…
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from 9 AM HST this morning to 6 PM
HST this evening.
* AFFECTED AREA…Leeward portions of all Hawaiian Islands.
* WIND…Trade winds from 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
* HUMIDITY…40 to 45 percent from the late morning through
afternoon hours.
* IMPACTS…any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
Instructions: A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. A Red Flag Warning does not predict new fire starts.

.A building northwest swell (310 degrees) will produce advisory
level surf along western islands through early Tuesday morning.
…HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM HST TUESDAY…
* WHAT…Surf building to 12 to 16 feet along north facing shores
and 8 to 12 feet along west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai,
Oahu, and Molokai.
* WHERE…Niihau, Kauai Southwest, Waianae Coast, Oahu North
Shore, Kauai North, Molokai Windward, Molokai North and
Molokai West.
* WHEN…Until 6 AM HST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS…Moderate. Strong breaking waves and strong currents
will make swimming dangerous.
Instructions: Head all advice from ocean safety officials. When in doubt, don`t go out.

* WHAT…Northeast winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
* WHERE…Portions of Maui and the Big Island Hawaii.
* WHEN…Until 6 PM HST this evening.
* IMPACTS…Winds this strong can make driving and walking
difficult. The winds can forcefully open doors and damage
hinges or slam doors shut, possibly causing injuries.
Instructions: Consider postponing travel to the summits until conditions improve. If you must travel to the summits, use extra caution walking and driving. Be careful opening or closing doors.
