Civil Defense message.

This is a Severe Weather update for Saturday morning, November 26th.

The National Weather Service has extended the High Surf Warning for west and northeast facing shores of Hawaii Island from Keahole Point in North Kona to Cape Kumukahi in Puna through tomorrow morning.

Due to high surf and debris;

Kamehameha Avenue between Ponahawai and Pauahi St. and Bayfront Highway are closed.

Additionally, due to ponding on Kalanianaole Avenue, there is a detour at the intersection of Kalanianaole and Kolea.

The following beach parks are currently closed:
– In North Kohala: Keokea
– In Hilo: Coconut Island, Onekahakaha, Kealoha, Wai`olena, Richardson’s, and Bayfront canoe area.

Other roadways and beaches may be closed and/or reopened without notice.
