MAYOR ROTH DELIVERS STATE OF THE COUNTY ADDRESS IN HILO

Mayor Roth delivered his State of the County Address earlier today from the atrium of the County building in Hilo. His theme for this year’s Address was: reformation, resilience, and adaptation; owning the past, preparing our present, and innovating for the future. Mayor Roth was joined by Governor Josh Green, Mayor Derek Kawakami from Kauaʻi, Council Chair Kimball, members of the Hawaiʻi County Council, representatives from Maui County, and his department heads, including his executive assistants.

The Address touched on a myriad of successes and setbacks that took listeners on a journey of what the state of the County of Hawaiʻi was, where it is currently, and where it’s going.

His comments touched on the following:

  • Homelessness
  • Economic Development
  • Affordable Housing
  • Building Permitting (EPIC)
  • Critical Infrastructure Projects
  • Kīlauea Eruption Recovery
  • Public Safety
  • Mauna Loa Eruption
  • Public Transportation
  • Sustainability
