HAWAIIAN VOLCANO OBSERVATORY INFORMATION STATEMENT
On Saturday, April 22 at 2:24 p.m. HST, a magnitude-4.2 earthquake occurred 2 km south southeast of Volcano, Island of Hawaiʻi, at a depth of 1.1 km below sea level. The earthquake was about 2 km north northeast of Kīlauea caldera, just within the boundaries of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Moderate shaking occurred during the earthquake and light damage has been reported. The earthquake had no apparent impact on either Mauna Loa or Kīlauea volcanoes.
The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory continues to monitor Hawaiian volcanoes for any changes.
