This is a Fire Weather Watch Information Statement for Tuesday, August 29th at 9 AM.
The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for leeward areas of Hawaii Island for North and South Kohala, North and South Kona, and Ka`u Districts, in effect starting Wednesday afternoon.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.
Due to the Fire Weather Watch;
Expect northeast winds of 15 to 30 MPH with gusts of up to 45 MPH and dryer conditions to impact Hawaii Island on Wednesday and Thursday.
Hawaii Island residents, please avoid all outdoor activity that involves an open flame or parking of vehicles on dry grass after travel.
Please take this time to secure outdoor items and to mitigate fire safety concerns on your property.
