Civil Defense message.

This is a Fire Weather Red Flag Warning message for Saturday November 4 at 5 in the afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the State and Island of Hawaii to include the areas of North and South Kohala, Kona and Kau beginning late Sunday morning through Monday.

A Red Flag Warning means a combination of strong winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation contribute to critical fire weather conditions.

Due to the Red Flag Warning the following Emergency Rules will be implemented from 12 a.m. on Sunday, November 5, 2023, through 6 a.m. on, Tuesday, November 7, 2023

  1. All outdoor burning is banned in the Districts of North Kohala, South Kohala, North Kona, South Kona, and Kau.
  2. All outdoor open flames are banned in the Districts of North Kohala, South Kohala, North Kona, South Kona, and Kau.
  3. The Director of Parks and Recreation is authorized to extend Rules 1 and 2 in County parks and facilities.
