The Office of Hawaiian Affairs will provide $6 million in support to 17 Hawaiian-focused public charter schools over the next two fiscal years, OHA announced on Thursday.

According to OHA, 77% of the more than 4,000 students who attend Hawaiian-focused charter schools are of Native Hawaiian ancestry
The funding is particularly significant in the area of facilities since charter schools do not receive any Capital Improvement Project or repair and maintenance funds from the state
