Civil Defense message.

This is a Flood Watch message for Sunday, March 3rd at 9 in the morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for all districts of Hawaii Island in effect from this evening.

A Flood Watch means conditions are favorable for flash flooding to occur.  Flash Flooding is life-threatening.

The National Weather Service may also issue Flood Warnings and Advisories for specific areas of Hawaii Island while the Flood Watch is in effect.

Due to the Flood Watch, be advised:

  • Residents in flood prone areas, take this time to prepare for possible heavy rains and potential flooding.
  • Be aware that road closures may occur without notice.
  • Do not attempt to cross flowing water in a vehicle or on foot; turn around don’t drown.
  • Remember, if lightning threatens your area, the safest place to be is indoors.
