STRUCTURE FULLY INVOLVED IN FIRE
Multiple HFD units and HPD were dispatched to Mapuana street in Kalapana Seaview Estates for a structure fire. Upon arrival Co-10 found a 25′ x 60′ single story wooden framed residential structure fully involved in fire. Neighbors attempted to keep the fire from affecting their homes with garden hoses and pointed arriving HFD units to an access point. There was no one found at the actual scene of the fire. Per neighbors the structure was abandoned but frequented squatters. The fire was brought under control within minutes but proved to be difficult to fully extinguish due the structural compromise and Firefighters not being able to safely enter the interior portions of the structure. HELCO was advised of the fire and was asked to remove electrical services from the home to make fire fighting operations safer. Multiple hot spots and a secondary decorative floor covering on the floor added to the difficulty of full extinguishment. E-10 and E-05 continued extinguishing efforts while T-10 and E-18 performed water shuttle operations. HFD units eventually finished extinguishing and mopping up the remaining hot spots and then returned to quarters.
