The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory has updated Kilauea volcano’s alert status to WATCH.
WATCH means that the volcano is erupting with limited hazards and continues to be closely monitored for changes.
Due to Kilauea’s Volcano WATCH level, please be advised:
- Areas downwind and close to the vent may experience elevated gas levels and tephra.
- Roadways may be congested, and pedestrians will be present, avoid the area if possible and drive with caution.
You will be informed as conditions change.
