Upcoming pole replacements in south Kona
Road closures on Aug. 8 to Aug. 13

HILO, Aug. 6, 2025 – Hawaiian Electric crews will replace several utility poles in south Kona between Aug. 8 and Aug. 13, 2025.

• Aug. 8, Friday: Intermittent closure of the makai lane of Hawai‘i Belt Road near the intersection of Ano‘i Place, between mile markers 109 and 110 in Captain Cook, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Aug. 11, Monday: Overnight closure of Mamalahoa Highway, south of Poli Uli Road, between mile markers 5 and 6 in Holualoa, from 10 p.m. on Monday to 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

• Aug. 13, Wednesday: Intermittent closure of the makai lane of Mamalahaloa Highway, between mile markers 1 and 2 in Holualoa, just south of Nohealani Street, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and to drive with caution when approaching the work zones. Flagmen will be onsite to provide traffic control.
