Cause: Under Investigation
3 brush fires simultaneously going off in homeless camp near old burn area on Lehua Street.
Company 8 responded to smell of smoke call in Honokaa district. Upon investigation found 3 fires actively burning in the homeless camp on Lehua Street. Fire in a vacant land off Leshua St, En route Co.17, Volunteer company 8A and BR09 dispatched. Upon arrival, multiple fires found at location with heavy brush and trees already burning. Choppers 1 and 2 dispatched just prior to BC1 arrival. D6 dozer was called in for added support and was utilized to create a new fire break running along the hilo side flank of the fire. Fire was under control at 2000 and final extinguishment at 2330. Approximately 3 acres burned with no lives or homes threatened. All units returned to quarters with no injuries reported on scene.
