Overnight closure of Mamalahoa Highway in Keopu
HILO, Sept. 26, 2025 – Hawaiian Electric crews will replace a utility pole in Keopu, north Kona, on Tuesday night, Oct. 2.
The work will require an overnight closure of Mamalahoa Highway, just south of the Keopu Lani Road intersection (mile markers 6-7), from 10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, to 6 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3.
Motorists are advised to use Kuakini Highway as an alternate route and to drive with caution when approaching the work zone. Flagmen will be onsite to provide traffic control.
The work is being performed overnight to minimize disruptions to the community
