Overnight road closure for pole replacement
HILO, Oct. 17, 2025 – Hawaiian Electric crews will replace a utility pole in north Kona that will require an overnight road closure while the work is being performed.
Mamalahoa Highway north of Lawaia Road (mile markers 8-9) will be closed from 10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, to 6 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 24.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and to drive with caution when approaching the work zone. Flagmen will be onsite to provide traffic control.
The work is being performed overnight to minimize disruptions to the community.
