Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Well – Emergency Repairs
AFFECTED AREA: HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW ESTATES (HOVE); KA‘Ū, HAWAI‘I ISLAND
This is a Department of Water Supply (DWS) message for Monday, June 15, 2026.
Effective immediately and until further notice, an Essential Needs Only Notice has been issued for all
those who use the HOVE public water spigots. Essential needs are for drinking, cooking, or personal hygiene only. DWS will be hauling water from Nā‘ālehu to the HOVE tank while the HOVE well is being repaired.
Due to the well repairs, the following are in effect:
- The drinking water spigots remain open for community access. While water spigots remain open for general community access, users are asked to limit their consumption to essential needs only, such as drinking, cooking, or personal hygiene. Your cooperation extends current water availability in the reservoir.
- The standpipe facility for water haulers is closed until repairs can be completed.
Again, the HOVE well in Ocean View, Ka‘ū will be down. The drinking water spigot station remains open for community use. The standpipe facility is now closed to water haulers.
Status updates will be issued as necessary and made available on the DWS’ website, www.hawaiidws.org.
To reach DWS, please call (808) 961-8050 during normal business hours, (808) 961-8790 for after-hour emergencies, or email: dws@hawaiidws.org.
The Department apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and acknowledges the community’s efforts to reduce their water usage while the essential needs only notice is in effect. MAHALO for your kokua!
This is your Hawaiʻi County Department of Water Supply.
