Kaʻū Wastewater Informational Meeting to be Held Aug. 20

The County of Hawaiʻi invites the public to a community informational meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 20 on the closure of large capacity cesspools in Pāhala and Nāʻālehu.

The semi-annual meeting will be held at the at the Nāʻālehu Community Center, 95-5635 Hawaiʻi Belt Road. At the meeting, the Department of Environmental Management will discuss updates related to the projects in both communities.

The closure of the large capacity cesspools, which are being replaced with new wastewater systems, are required under an Administrative Order of Consent issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
