National Weather Service reports Potential Severe Weather for Hawaii Island beginning Friday, August 14, 2026.

The National Weather Service is monitoring an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms associated with a broad area of low pressure that appears to be forming about 1200 miles east-southeast of the Hawaiian Islands. A tropical depression, or storm, is expected to form during the next couple of days that may impact Hawaii island. As a precaution, you should take the time to prepare your home and family for possible heavy rain and high winds arriving as early Friday evening.

Civil Defense will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated on changes to the forecast.
