Partial road closure for utility work in Pāpa‘ikou

HILO, Aug. 11, 2026 – Hawaiian Electric crews must replace a utility pole in Pāpa‘ikou on Hawai‘i Island on Thursday, Aug. 13. The replacement requires a partial road closure while the work is being performed.
The Hilo-bound lane of Hawai‘i Belt Road (Highway 19), north of Nahala Street, will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. No service interruption is expected.
Motorists are advised to plan for delays and to drive with caution when approaching the work zone. Flagmen will provide traffic control.
