Monitoring Tropical Disturbance: Civil Defense and the National Weather Service are closely monitoring a tropical disturbance in the Pacific Ocean, that could develop into something more serious. While it is too early to determine the track, intensity, and magnitude of potential impact, it is not too early for you to again prepare for possible bad weather.

911: If you are in a life-threatening emergency, please call 911. For all other storm-related needs, please go online and fill out a Request for Assistance at VibrantHawaii.org or call Civil Defense at (808) 935-0031.

Donations: For anyone looking to make supply donations, please text or call Vibrant Hawaii’s donation line at (802) 365-1808. For anyone that would like to make monetary donations, the Hawaii Community Foundation has established the Hawaii Island Strong Fund to support relief efforts, check out their website at HawaiiIslandStrong.org.

Medical Doctor Availability: Tomorrow, Thursday, August 20th, medical doctors will be at the Na`alehu Elementary School Gymnasium from 2 PM to 6 PM, to provide free general medical services to anyone wanting or needing assistance.

Water Restoration: The Department of Water Supply reports that the water line that feeds Na`alehu and Waiohinu that was damaged by Hurricane Lala has been repaired. However, at this time, due to the damage of service lines in Na`alehu and Waiohinu, only certain areas have service. If water was restored in your area, please boil and cool your water before use. For more information, please see the Department of Water Supply news release on the Civil Defense website.

Department of Water Supply also reports that the potable water spigots located in Ocean View are back online and safe for domestic use.

Please continue to avoid any unnecessary travel into Ka‘u District to help quicken emergency response.

You will be informed should conditions change.
