Second Annual HI-PAL Youth Music Showcase to Incorporate Hurricane Lala Relief Fundraiser

The Hawai‘i Police Department’s Kona HI-PAL/Community Policing Section is announcing an additional community-focused component to the upcoming 2nd Annual HI-PAL Youth Music Showcase, scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, starting at 4 p.m. at Ohana Court on the campus of the University of the Nations, 75-5851 Kuakini Highway, in Kailua-Kona.

The showcase, being held in collaboration with LT Smooth, the Hearo Foundation, Inc., and the University of the Nations, will now also include a fundraiser to support the Kaʻū community following the recent impacts of Hurricane Lala.

The addition of the relief fundraiser complements the purpose and mission of the Hawai‘i Police Department and HI-PAL. In addition to providing Hawai‘i Island youth with an opportunity to showcase their musical talents, the event will highlight the importance of community, compassion, service, and helping our neighbors during times of need.

All monetary donations will be donated to Friends of First Responders, which will use the funds to purchase essential items such as gas, propane, water, and non-perishable food items to support relief and recovery efforts for individuals and families affected by Hurricane Lala in Kaʻū.

Community members are also welcome to bring donated items to the event to support relief and recovery efforts. Items such as water, non-perishable food, and other needed supplies will be collected and delivered to a distribution point in the Kaʻū area operated by Vibrant Hawai‘i, where they will be made available to individuals and families affected by Hurricane Lala.

Community members are encouraged to attend the free event, support Hawai‘i Island’s young performers, and come together to help the Kaʻū community as it recovers from Hurricane Lala.
