HILO, July 11, 2025 – Hawaiian Electric crews will replace utility poles on Mamalahoa Highway in Kona on Tuesday, July 15, and Thursday, July 17. The work will require an intermittent closure of Mamalahoa Highway from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days.
On July 15, the mauka lane will be closed between mile markers 4 and 5 in north Kona. On July 17, the makai lane will be closed between mile markers 93.5 and 94 in south Kona.
Motorists are advised to plan for possible traffic delays and to drive with caution when approaching the work zone. Flagmen will be onsite to provide traffic control.
