Futsal Tournament Results Announced
The County of Hawai‘i Department of Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the results of the 2025 Hawai‘i International Futsal Tournament that took place in Hilo, Aug. 15-17.
Now in its third year, the tournament drew 60 teams and close to 600 players from Hawai‘i, California, Oregon and Japan for a weekend of fun and competition. It was the largest participation yet for the growing annual event.
“It is an honor for our County to host this event as it continues to grow and promote cross-ocean connections through athletics,” said Mayor Kimo Alameda. “Congratulations to all of the players from Hawaiʻi and beyond.”
The event is presented through a partnership with Hawai‘i Futsal/Hui Kanaka Pōwāwae, the WeGo! Foundation, HM-A, and the Department of Parks and Recreation – Recreation Division.
“We were really pleased with the turnout and the level of competition this year,” said Lindsey Iyo, Recreation Division Administrator at Parks and Recreation. “Bringing in teams from other islands, other states, and from Japan gives our local futsal players a great opportunity to compete at high level right here at home.”
Sponsors who helped make this event happen include: DalPonte, Mikasa, Waiākea Hawaiian Volcanic Beverages, and County Council Members James Hustace, Ashley Kierkiewicz, Dennis Onishi and Rebecca Villegas.
The County would also like to thank Puna Taiko, Halau Ka Lehua Pua Kamaehu and Nailima Gaison for helping to make the tournament’s Aloha Ceremony a very special event.
