Florida Woman Rushes To Save 11-Year-Old Girl From Lake — Without Knowing How To Swim
In Fort Myers, Florida, a quick-thinking stranger became a hero after rescuing an 11-year-old girl who slipped into a lake at Lakes Park.

Mia Garcia was collecting shells with her little sister when she lost her footing and slid into the water. Though she knows how to swim, the slimy embankment made it impossible for her to climb back out.
That’s when Bridgett Addison, who had been at a nearby pavilion, heard Mia’s cries for help. Without hesitation, she ran to the lake and pulled Mia to safety — even though she doesn’t know how to swim herself.
“I don’t care who they are, what color, what their disability. If you can do it, go and help somebody,” Bridgett said.
Mia’s grandmother, who witnessed the rescue, says she’ll never forget the kindness of the stranger who came to the rescue that day.
“It shows a lot that there are good people out there, and she is one of them,” she said.
It was a frightening moment that could have ended very differently — but thanks to Bridgett’s courage and selflessness, Mia is safe and back with her family.
