Hawaiian Electric to replace utility poles in Kona
Partial road closures in October

HILO, Oct. 2, 2025 – Hawaiian Electric crews will replace several utility poles in Kona between Oct. 6 and Oct. 17, 2025.
- Oct. 6-7: Closure of the mauka lane of Hawaii Belt Road, between Akoni Drive and Kamehameha III Highway, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.
- Oct. 15: Closure of the makai lane of Kuakini Highway, near the Kailua Village Condos just south of Hualalai Road, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
- Oct. 16-17: Closure of the mauka lane of Kuakini Highway, near the Hawaii Belt Road intersection, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and to drive with caution when approaching the work zones. Flagmen will be onsite to provide traffic control.
