Registration is now open for our next Hoa‘āina Stewardship Day on Saturday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.! Journey with us into the Koai‘a Corridor as we deepen knowledge of Kohala Mountain’s natural and cultural landscape, and further our kuleana as hoa‘āina (loving caretakers of the land) to help restore Kohala’s native forests—the source of our precious wai (water).

February 22 Hoa‘āina Stewardship Day.
This Hoa‘āina Day will be a special one, as we recognize Piko o Wākea, also known as the Spring equinox, that will have occurred less than two days before. A Kāne moon will greet and gift us with an excellent day for planting native koai‘a, ‘a‘ali‘i, and maybe some ‘iliahi (sandalwood) trees! We will also engage in learning about place and our sources of water, sharpen our kilo (environmental observation) skills, and check in on and mālama (care for) trees planted on previous Hoa‘āina Days.
“I thought about all of the people whose hands planted the trees that were already planted here, and tried to be a vessel to send the love of those people to the trees they planted.”
