This is a COVID-19 informational update for Sunday, August 8th.
For Hawaii County, the Department of Health reports 118 new Coronavirus cases and is currently monitoring 1094 active cases with 28 persons hospitalized.
The Department of Health has determined that the County of Hawaii has reached community spread of Coronavirus. This means that you may be exposed to Coronavirus whenever you leave your home. Please protect yourself and your family when you are out by following the safe practices of face coverings, distancing, and limiting gathering sizes. Please stay at home if you are not feeling well.
On testing, testing will be available each Monday and Thursday through August at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo and Tuesday at the Kona Aquatics Center.
The Department of Health, clinics, and pharmacies regularly offer Coronavirus vaccinations. Please visit the Civil Defense website for a list of all clinics and pharmacies providing vaccinations and testing.
