Interfaith Communities In Action Hale ka Po’e Keiki Event
The Interfaith Communities In Action (ICIA), a non-profit organization established in 1999 and comprised of several faith communities, has a vision to help end family homelessness on Hawai’i Island. At any given moment, of all individuals living unsheltered in family groups, slightly more than 1/3 of them will be children 5 years of age or under. As such, we have established a fund, Hale ka Po’e Keiki (Homes for Children) to be awarded each year to an organization or group committed to creating affordable housing. Our 2022 awardee is Habitat for Humanity.
On August 6th, 2022, we are having a fundraiser for this purpose consisting of a “Fun Walk”, and live entertainment at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
