Former University of Hawaii women’s basketball coach Jim Bolla dies at 70
HONOLULU — Former University of Hawaii women’s basketball coach Jim Bolla has died at age 70, Spectrum News confirmed on Friday.
The Las Vegas resident had battled long-term heart issues, and cancer since 2017. He’d been determined to keep both at bay long enough to see his daughter, Sasha, play college volleyball, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Bolla, who attained his greatest career achievements at UNLV in the 1980s and 1990s, led the Rainbow Wahine from 2004 to 2009 as his last hurrah in coaching, going 64-80 over those five seasons.
