This is a High Surf Warning for Thursday, January 12 at 6 in the morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Warning for west facing shores of Hawaii Island from Upolu Point in North Kohala to areas of South Kona to Friday. Also a High Surf Advisory for North and East facing shores of Hawaii Island from Upolu Point to Cape Kumukahi in Puna.
A High Surf Warning means surf will be higher than normal, shore break, and dangerous currents can make swimming difficult and dangerous.
Due to the High Surf Warning, the following are issued:
Expect waves to surge and sweep across beaches and coastal areas.
Secure property and vessels prior to impacts.
Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers should exercise caution and heed all advice given by Ocean Safety Officials.
Beaches and roads may be closed without notice.
