Boat ran aground 100 yards south of Honokohau Harbor entrance, 6 parties on board, 5 injured.
At 2212 hours on Thursday May 25, 2023, HFD units were dispatched to a boat that ran aground. Six units were assigned to this incident. Thirteen personnel responded. HFD arrived on scene at 2217 hours and cleared at 2343 hours. The incident occurred 100 yards south of Honokohau entrance. The local station is 07. The general description of this property is open ocean, sea or tidal waters. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel were rescue and removal from harm. No mutual or automatic aid was given or received.
Alarm number 0012462 has been assigned to this incident.
HFD, along with USCG and HPD, responded to above location for report of 35 foot fiberglass boat that had run aground. On board were 6 parties, 5 of of which had injuries. Vessel sustained substantial front hull damage, but was still able to operate under its own power. Sealegs 07 assisted by directing vessel into Honokohau harbor. Injured parties were extricated to M7, M12, and AMR7, treated and transported to Kona Hospital. Scene left with USCG, HFD untis returned to quarters.
