KAHULUI, Hawaii — The Maui County Department of Water Supply says it will advance the Stage 1 water shortage to a Stage 2 water shortage in the Upcountry area on Nov. 8 due to low surface water flow amid ongoing drought conditions caused by the lack of rainfall, according to a news release.
The East Maui Watershed services Upcountry residents and farmers from Haiku to Kanaio, covering Makawao, Upper and Lower Kula, Haiku, Pukalani, Kokomo, Kaupakalua, Ulumalu, Ulupalakua, and Kanaio.
