DEM announces early closure of the Hilo Scale House, East Hawai‘i Organics Facility, and the Hilo Reload Facility on Wednesday, November 22
The Department of Environmental Management will close the Hilo Scale House, the East Hawai‘i Organics Facility, and the Hilo Reload Facility at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22. This early closure is necessary to allow fumigation of the Hilo Scale House. Due to the early closure, the Hilo Scale House will remain open from 7:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will not be closing during the normal lunch period on Wednesday.
As a reminder, all solid waste facilities, including the landfill, the organics facilities, and all transfer stations islandwide, are closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 23. All facilities will resume the regular schedule on Friday, November 24.
